Tango Space - Private and group classes in central London with Argentine teacher

Tango is a method of communication more profound than words; it has a language of its own. My objective is to celebrate and promote tango on an international level. The aim is to remain true to its origins as a popular dance of the ordinary people, while at the same time exhibiting its artistic value.

Classes are organized according to a pedagogical principle. They begin with individual technical exercises and then progress to working with a partner, building small structures that end up forming part of a long figure. Emphasis is placed on key steps like sacadas, voleos, volcadas and turns. Students of all ages learn, have fun, think and reflect on dancing and tango.

Connection Between Tango and Yoga: Both yoga and tango focus intensely on the mind-body connection. Consciousness of the body and how it feels in different poses, along with use of the breath to deepen and perfect poses are fundamental in both practices. Tango, like yoga, focuses on the body’s energies, and works towards aligning these with one’s partner’s. The deeper awareness and consciousness of the body and the breath, which are fostered in both tango and yoga, can be drawn upon in everyday stressful situations to maintain a sense of inner calm and groundedness.
