I grew up with dozens of magnets on the fridge’s door. Letters, holiday souvenirs, branded “gifts”…
Did you have those too?
We kept reordering them so they’d create new shapes.
It was magical, the many combinations we could do…
Tango is a bit like that.
You take bits and pieces here and there, and create new, cool sequences that make your hearts fly.
And, do you know what the most “magnetic” movement of tango is?
It’s called the barrida…
When you add it to a movement, you’re always sure to feel a rush of connection with your partner.
Add it to a fluid giro, and you’ve got an even better combination.
So this week, to get your creative juices going (and challenge you a bit) we’re teaching you a veeeeery magnetic combination.
Click on the video to learn:
- How to combine a giro with a barrida and a sacada
- How to use to idea of “magnet” to make the barrida work
- A great movement for followers to practice being in the flow of the movement, so you’re 100% with your partner
We really hope this helps!
Keep learning, and keep sharing your dancing, because the world of tango needs your embrace.
